Japan's Oji Paper hikes prices for entire range of printing, writing paper by 15% from July
BEIJING, June 6, 2022 (Fastmarkets RISI) - In Japan, Oji Paper, the Oji Holdings subsidiary overseeing the Japanese giant’s graphic paper business, has announced a 15% price increase for all of its printing and writing paper products, starting from July 1 shipments.
The price increase is applicable to all coated, lightweight coated and uncoated paper as well as copy paper.
The company said input and logistics costs had been on the rise since the beginning 2020 as the economy recovered from the Covid-19 pandemic, and the increases had been exacerbated by developments in Europe.
Oji Paper’s move comes after most of the company’s competitors in Japan announced and largely implemented 15% price increases for their graphic paper products over the first quarter of this year.
At the end of March, Oji F-Tex, another subsidiary of Oji Holdings that overseas its specialty paper activities, tabled a 15% price rise on its entire product range, effective from the beginning of May.
