South India Paper Mills has started commercial production after COVID
COLOGNE, Germany, 19 April 2022 (Fastmarkets RISI) - After extended delays, South India Paper Mills has started commercial production on a new board machine at its Nanjangud mill in Karnataka, India.
The testliner, fluting medium and white top kraft liner unit, which is capable of producing 350 tonnes per day, started market-ready runs on March 29. The BM, which South India estimated more than doubles the mill’s existing 56,700 tonne/yr board capacity, was due to come online in mid-2020.
The date was pushed back by logistical problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the attendant regional lockdowns and shipping delays.
